Hello, I'm
Bernadette!
I grew up with a love for both music, dance and art in the golden era when analog was supreme and digital was starting to flood the scene. As a teen I wrote journals full of poetry and daily ramblings. If I didn’t spend all my money on CDs, vinyl albums, and thrifted clothes, then there was a good chance there was film in my Nikon point n shoot, which I took with me to document something, somewhere, or someone.
When I became a mother— my life changed. My life became my children. Instead of buying the newest CD’s, our money went towards Huggies diapers, grocery bills, rent, baby Gap and Target hauls… yet me and my husband were happiest we could be.
Being a mother is the most amazing adventure of my life. When I look back at all my mothering years, there is no experience with such great importance than raising my children. There was and is still so much time invested in helping their minds, character, hearts and brains develop. The memories made as a family can permeate a parent’s heart and there is nothing like wanting to relive or cherish those moments forever.

Raised a California girl most of my life, my husband and I decided to follow a call to Idaho. After our move, we have traded our California roots for the more peaceful lifestyle— we got ourselves a Goldendoodle dog, embraced the country life, bought 2 chickens, and are growing a garden in a bigger space than our last home. We reside in Boise with our two sons.

The Photographer
My love for photography and storytelling started when I traveled to Europe at 17 with a Nikon One Touch Point and Shoot. When I got my film back, my friends and myself were amazed at the depth, story telling, and quality of the photos. After highschool photography and several College Fine Art Classes of drawing and painting, I was growing impatient to eventually be able to transition into a real photography college course (which was always full). But like most artists— I followed my heart first and married early and happily became a mom at 21.
Sometime along the way, I bought an SLR camera. After 2 boys, my husband encouraged me to take my hobby to the next step. I accepted my first wedding and family clients in 2010. Along the way I incorporated 35mm and medium format film from my personal work to my professional work. Since then my work has been featured in blogs such as Let the Kids (a film family lifestyle blog), Inspired by This, Wildling, People, Ruffled, and multiple wedding blogs.
I use both digital and film photography. I love the luminous and soft quality from analog film and mechanical cameras. I also love the ease, speed, and sharpness found in digital. Film tends to have a dreamy quality and some grain, which is why I include film in my lifestyle sessions for story telling.
My digital work emulates the film look and is exclusively used for family portraits. Portrait sessions are 1 hour long and have the option to add film for an extra cost. Mini Sessions are also available a few times a year, which are captured in the Portrait style.

Bernadette's passion for her art of photography comes out in her time spent with you. She really loves what she does... and she is amazing at it. I love the photos she captured of our family each of the 4 sessions we have done with her. This last time our kids did not have good attitudes about the whole thing even though Bernadette met us bright and early in the morning. I didnt think it was possible to get many good shots of the kids... and I was absolutely blown away with the moments that she was able to grab. She was so gentle and encouraging with our kids. Im so thankful for these amazing photos to document our family history and memories.
